Joaquin graduated in 2014 from UC San Diego with a Bachelors degree in Bioegineering: Bioinformatics. As an undergraduate student, Joaquin worked with Dr. Ecker at the Salk Institute looking at tDNA knockouts of Arabidopsis Thaliana for variations in seed size development, and with Dr. Mali at the UC San Diego Bioengineering department developing a 3D Bioprinter. His main interests include genetics and overlapping biological data that provides insights into genetics and predispositions to pathological diseases. Joaquin joined the Frazer lab in 2015 where he works with the bioinformatics division and plans to attend graduate school to earn a PhD in Bioinformatics.
