Kate Muramoto

Kate is a continuing undergraduate student at University of California, San Diego until the end of 2015. She will be finishing up with a B.S. in General Biology. In previous years, she was exposed to the research field in genetics, first at the Sanford Burnham Medical Research Institute where she acted as a liaison with multiple deans from Japan and around La Jolla for prospective research projects. At the same time, she completed basic lab protocols to assist the researchers there. She began interning at the Frazer lab in the fall of 2014, where she was exposed to the concepts of stem cells and many other types of DNA explorations. As a lab assistant, she assists the researchers by completing a variety of tasks. Kate plans to continue her academic career in Optometry school, when she applies at the beginning of the 2016 year.
