Angelo is developing and scaling up a targeted sequencing protocol to be implemented in clinical care. Before joining the division of Genome Information Sciences, Angelo graduated with his PhD in Pharmacology / Toxicology from UC Davis in 2010, working with Dr. James Angelastro. There, he examined the effect of a transcription factor (ATF5) on the disease process of glioblastoma, using a retrovirus to incite tumors in a transgenic mouse model. Skill sets he obtained in graduate school include DNA / protein purification, cell culture, small animal surgery, and immunohistochemistry. Prior to graduate school, Angelo worked in industrial scale protein purification / manufacturing at Bayer BP in Berkeley, CA. He also received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from UC Berkeley.
