Stephanie Sadrian, Ph.D.

Dr. Stephanie Sadrian graduated in 2015, earning a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. Under the mentorship of Dr. Ronald Li and Dr. Roger Hajjar at the Cardiovascular Institute, her thesis involved a microarray-based approach to identify novel miRNA and genic regulatory motifs driving the maturation of human embryonic stem cell derived cardiomyocytes. She was also involved in manipulating the expression of candidate regulatory molecules via lentiviral transduction in order to assay changes in gene expression, calcium handling, and electrophysiological properties which are essential for the functionality of adult human cardiomyocytes. Stephanie joined Dr. Frazer’s lab in January 2015 as a post-doctoral scholar. Currently, her work is focused on identifying genotype-phenotype relationships in patients with and without cardiovascular disease by incorporating high-throughput molecular and functional assays using patient-derived iPSC-cardiomyocytes.
